I really liked the red color but I wanted to go with a softer happy color. When I got it painted I did some heavy sanding, I wanted to give it that time worn look.
I used mahogany stain on the sanded edges taking off any excess with a little paint thinner.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out, the color is perfect.
THE HUTCH TURNED OUT BEAUTIFUL. GREAT DISTRESSING

I just read your post about the avalanche and I am so thankful you survived! It was a good thing you are familiar with the elements and know it is always best to travel with provisions.
But you are correct in watching out for other survivors! They will steal your food and and in extreme cases EAT YOU if you were to pass on........ survival of the fittest, my friend!
And I don't know a single person who has ever tried camel.
I just became a follower! We are going to be good friends!
oh wow that looks amazing! great work!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for your sweet comment on my blog today

oh my- i just breathed a big sigh of relief for that hutch. it looks so much softer and prettier, and happier in its skin! i think the two toned before made it busier since it has so many details and took away from what was behind the glass. the new paint is just perfect, cristie!!! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteThe hutch is gorgeous! You did a fabulous job distressing it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on persevering on that hutch! You had a lot of windows to paint around! It looks so much better in this light color...beautiful!
