Back to school. Where did our summer go?
Kids are back in school and that means lots of study time, even for the little ones.
I found this wonderful little desk at a yard sale a couple weeks ago. As soon as I spotted it I knew I had to have it! The top lifts up for storage and it even has a little pencil holder.
I decided to paint it green and lightly sand the edges, after all it is quite old.
The chair (also a yard sale find) I painted red. Then I added my grand-daughters name on the back of it with some cute stickers.
I love this little filing cabinet that I picked up at JoAnn's (of course using my 40% off coupon). I painted it Krylon Cherry Red and Olive Green to match the rest of the set, then I added some more cute school stickers and used Mod Podge to secure them on.
The filing cabinet can be filled with crayons, glue, pencils, paper, and maybe some treats.
And the little hanging metal holder I also pick up at JoAnn's. I spray painted it to match. It can hold their finished homework, and I added some magnets to post litlle reminders.
I really enjoyed doing this project and I'm so happy with how it turned out. It really came together. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for checking it out!!
"Back to School" is this weeks theme at thecsiproject so of course I'll be entering!
Love the filing cabinet. I have been wanting something to better organize my quilting supplies and think something like this would be great. I will have to check out Joanne's and see if they still have some that I can decorate. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteCristie, Very, very cute! I love little desks. I have a classic child roll-top desk that I got at DI for $10. I have had it for several years and I haven't transformed it yet. (shame on me!). Thanks for sharing this cute project.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the school stickers and the apple on top of the desk! Adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteYour so creative. I love this school set. My kids would love it too. Thanks for sharing
