Welcome Spring

After a long winter I'm so excited for spring to finally really be here. I think I'm going to take a little break from blogging and really enjoy the season. I have so many projects that I'm really looking forward to working on. Hope you all have a wonderful Spring time!

Ahhh, a new paint job.

I found this night stand at a thrift store for $5.
It was agood solid piece, just some scratches & looking a little dated
(Believe me, I know the feeling).

I sanded it and went over the entire piece with de-glosser to help the paint adhere.
I painted it black and immediately went over it with paint thinner in random spots.
I do this to take off some of the paint & give it a worn look.
Then I sanded the edges and stained the piece with red mahogany stain.

I love the way it turned out.

I think it's very important and makes the job a lot easier if you find a good solid piece of furniture that doesn't need a lot of repairs.

  1. Love your blog. I am from Payson, but know live in California. Hoping to move back some day. When I do I'm picking you up and we are heading to the nearest gas station for a fountain soda and then we are going to hit every yard sale with in a thirty mile radius.

  2. I love how your nightstand turned out~having the wood show through the black paint looks so good! Now it looks like a true antique.

I'm an Idaho girl, and I think of Utah girls as distant cousins. :)
