I polished the dull knobs with some steel wool and glued some wood scrolls to give the dresser a little interest.
Then of course I sanded the edges and used mahogany stain to darken the edges, then wiped off the excess with some paint thinner.
I added some of my favorite things to the top of the dresser. The little hat was mine when I was a little girl, yep, it's an antique!
So this sweet little dresser went from scruffy brown stain to a pretty cream color.
I'll be showing my dresser off at,
I love the dresser! The sheep are so sweet. Good job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the dresser. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dresser! I never thought of adding the wooden embellishments to furniture! I'll have to try using paint thinner instead of a damp cloth---what is your reason for using that instead?
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the dresser! It looks so great! You have such a great eye for these things! I was wondering if you could offer your opinion on this piece I purchased a month ago. The man was selling it for 10 dollars because the bottom drawers were missing it was originally 2500!!! I was thinking about sanding it and painting it white and distressing it a little. Also adding curtains to the bottom and maybe putting in a couple of baskets for storage. Could you maybe offer some tips on distressing? I have never done it before and am kind of nervous to ruin this piece!
